About the position

In this entry-level position, you will develop the necessary skill sets and experience to perform routine general maintenance and repair tasks throughout the warehouse. The maintenance responsibilities will encompass various areas including electricity, plumbing, lift trucks, refrigeration, ammonia systems, and carpentry. This role is ideal for a highly motivated and hard-working individual who is eager to grow their career in the maintenance field. You will work under close supervision, observing and learning from experienced technicians while assisting with basic repairs and adjustments to various equipment and systems in accordance with OSHA standards. Your daily tasks will include cleaning, changing, and lubricating machinery parts, as well as maintaining tools and shop areas to ensure they are in clean and operational condition. You will also be expected to attend and participate in all assigned training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge in maintenance practices. This position requires a willingness to learn and the ability to comprehend the qualifications necessary to advance to a Tech 1 position within two years. The work environment may present challenges, including exposure to controlled temperatures as low as -15 degrees Fahrenheit and the need to work at heights up to 35 feet. You will be required to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects, and using hand and power tools. Flexibility in working hours, including nights and weekends, may also be necessary. This role is a stepping stone for those looking to build a career in maintenance, providing a solid foundation of experience and training.

Responsibilities

  • Observe,      learn, and assist with basic repairs and adjustments of doors, dock      levelers, pallet racks, sweepers, sprinkler systems, forklifts, pallet      trucks, and electrical work in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Attend      and participate in all assigned training as directed.
  • Clean,      change, and lubricate bearings, gears, and other machinery parts using      rags, brushes, and grease guns.
  • Maintain      tools, machinery, and shop areas in clean and operational condition.

Requirements

  • High      school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Preferred      1 year experience as a maintenance technician
  • Basic      mechanical knowledge and aptitude required.
  • Mathematical      and documentation skills necessary.
  • Basic      computer skills required (email, internet searches, basic data entry,      etc.).
  • May be      expected to participate in HAZMAT responder training.
