Senior Accountant

Job Description:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting accurate financial reporting through hands-on accounting operations, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Contract opportunity!

• Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 Per hour.
• Location: Houston, TX 77024

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all general ledger activities, journal entries, and month-/year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Review and approve reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
• Oversee inventory and fixed asset accounting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation.
• Prepare and file sales and property tax reports; serve as liaison for internal and external audits.
• Support and optimize ERP systems (Dynamics 365, NetSuite) to maintain data integrity and improve reporting capabilities.
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
• Develop and mentor accounting team members through training, feedback, and professional development.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
• Experience with ERP systems such as Dynamics 365 or NetSuite.
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
