We are Hiring Immediately for a Customer Service Representative position!

The Volunteer Operations Specialist plays a key role in creating a positive, engaging, and impactful volunteer experience at Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR). This individual is responsible for overseeing and supporting various volunteer-led projects, including Sorting, Repack, CSFP, Loose Repack, and Produce Bag programs. They ensure a safe, well-organized workspace while providing hands-on assistance to volunteers throughout each shift.

This position requires strong communication skills for both public-facing interactions and collaboration with internal FBR staff. The Volunteer Operations Specialist works closely with the Volunteer Operations Supervisor to maintain inventory accuracy, perform data entry, and ensure that volunteers have a meaningful and fulfilling experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee project setup and breakdown, ensuring smooth workflow in the Volunteer Center
• Welcome and orient volunteers, sharing information about their duties, FBR's mission, and its various programs
• Train volunteers on processes and best practices for handling food and warehouse tasks
• Assist in managing recalled items received from Feeding America (FA) and monitor for compliance
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment, adhering to FBR and Feeding America sanitation standards
• Ensure proper handling of food products, including frozen, refrigerated, and dry goods, while communicating safety standards to volunteers
• Follow all FBR safety guidelines and regulations to create a secure environment for volunteers and staff
• Provide backup support for the Volunteer Operations team as needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

The work environment is dynamic and requires a balance of physical activity and organizational tasks. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

• Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift, with occasional sitting
• Daily use of heavy equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks (manual and automatic), and lift trucks
• Ability to push and pull pallets up to 2,000 lbs. with a manual pallet jack
• Frequent lifting of items up to 40 lbs.
• Work in a multi-temperature warehouse environment (hot and cold conditions)

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred
• Forklift certification is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Experience with warehouse management systems is a plus
